Hi! And welcome to CUL 174 - From Garden to Table. This short video will give you an overview of all the great material we're going to cover in this course!

We'll start out by discussing edible plants that thrive in the Sonoran Desert. We'll review the best vegetables and herbs you can plant for year-round harvests, along with soil requirements and watering techniques. Then we'll identify some garden pests you might encounter, and how to control them in an environmentally friendly manner. The course will cover natural pollinators, too.

Finally, we'll wrap up the course with a discussion about the nutritional benefits of locally grown plants and how to prepare harvested vegetables and herbs in a nutritious and healthy manner. The course will also cover seed saving and preserving and storage methods.
